Today’s Proof That God Loves Us – There’s Another Microbrewery Coming To Cape Cod

brewery-480

BarnstablePatriot.com – Is there room on Cape Cod for a second microbrewery? Peter Connor believes there is because of the growth in hyper-local microbreweries in recent years and growing consumer interest in local craft beer.

“The consumer environment is probably ready,” he said in a recent interview. He noted that the 2,700 breweries now in the United States is the highest number since Prohibition and the late 1800s and sales and volume brewed by independent craft brewers have increased significantly.

In addition to the successful Cape Cod Beer company in Hyannis, Martha’s Vineyard has two microbreweries and Nantucket has one, so Connor believes the Cape should be able to support another, which will be called Barnstable Brewing Co.

He and his wife, Ann, co-owners of the new company, won the Samuel Adams “Come Brew with Us,” contest in 2012, which allowed him to go to the brewery to brew his beer recipe.

Is there room for another brewery on  Cape Cod? Duh, there’s room for like ten more breweries on Cape Cod. There should be a brewery on every street corner. Has the person that wrote this article ever been to The Cape? Asking if there’s room for more beer on Cape Cod is like asking if there’s room for more potatoes in Idaho. Um yeah, beer is what we do bro. If this beer is as good as advertised The Real Cape staff alone will keep it in business.

If Peter Connor was smart he’d find a way to get us some of this award winning beer to test A.S.A.P. We will let the people know if they should be making room in the fridge or not. I know our readers and I’m pretty sure they are responsible for 94% of the beer being consumed on Cape Cod. Just be warned that if your beer sucks we will be passing that information on as well. Our readers may be boozebags, but they can see through bullshit a mile away so there’s no chance we’d blow smoke up their ass.

P.S. How long until the fun police form an army to show up at every permit application hearing Barnstable Brewing Co. has?

VIDEO: Aerial Footage Of Cape Cod Home That’s About To Fall Off A Cliff

Over The Cliff: Aerial views of Cape Cod home lost to ocean erosion from NotAdrone on Vimeo.

The music makes me want to punch myself square in the nuts, but other than that this is a really cool video. If this dude can shoot this with his remote controlled drone thingy then I’m pretty sure the government knows what you had for breakfast this morning.

Today In Cape Cod History 1969 – Nantucket Clamps Down On Hippies

ring

CCT – NANTUCKET, Mass. – 1969 – Hippies can walk Nantucket beaches barefooted this summer but they may have to wear sandals or shoes to eat.

The Board of Selectmen disclosed Wednesday it has recommended to the forthcoming annual town meeting three bylaws designed to discourage hippies from mixing and mingling on this sedate resort island off Cape Cod.

One recommendation would prohibit bare feet in a restaurant, drug store, public dining room or bar. The penalty would be a $25 fine.

The selectmen would also ban: Sleeping at night in a boat or on a float in Nantucket and Madaket harbors without a permit, and sleeping on beaches or on other certain public and private property between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. without permission of the owner.

Well I certainly hope they’ve repealed these laws by now. I don’t know about you but if I spent a weekend on Nantucket and didn’t break every single one of them I would consider the trip a failure. I mean what true Cape Codder hasn’t woken up buck naked on an inner tube floating around Nantucket Harbor with a $753 bar tab from the Chicken Box duct taped to their forehead? If you haven’t then you are doing Nantucket wrong.

Scientists Asking For Whale Tale Photos From Cape Cod Boaters

whale tail

CapeCodOnline.com – A new “Carib Tails” international citizen science effort has begun to track humpback whale seasonal migrations between Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary and marine sanctuaries in the Caribbean, according to recent materials released by Stellwagen Bank officials.

Boaters are asked to photograph the tails of humpbacks they encounter at sea to support ongoing research on the approximately 1,000 humpbacks that migrate between Stellwagen Bank and its Caribbean partners.

The photographs will be matched with existing entries in the North Atlantic Humpback Whale Catalog and could be added to the collection – particularly if the humpbacks are previously unknown or unphotographed.

Oh look at that an “international citizen science effort” and they want Cape Codders to photograph whale tales from their boats. Well if they can get people to do all of their work for them and add to their picture collection then so can we.

The Real Cape would like to announce our “Cape Cod citizen science effort” where we ask all of you Cape Codders to send US your photos of whale tales in their natural habitat as well. Only we don’t want pics of Moby Dick, we are looking for submissions of a slightly different type of whale tale.

Gives new meaning to the term “Humpback” AMIRITE?

So remember Cape Cod, have your cameras ready at all times. You never know when a whale tale might just pop out of nowhere. We will do our part and “study” every photo we get… you know, for science.

Insane Tony’s Local Music Lunch Hour – The Cape Cod Music Hall Of Fame

HALL-OF-FAME-white

Ya this does’t exist yet, but while I have your attention, let me lay something on you. My articles aren’t the most popular here on our site, and I get it not everyone loves music as I do. My articles aren’t as edgy as Hippie Face’s posts, I know this. I am here to shed light on the shit ton of talent here on the Cape. These musicians I spotlight bust their asses year round to do what they love. Very few of them make enough cash from playing to support themselves or their families if they have them. I would say 99% of them have REAL jobs and then play a few nights a week, because they truly LOVE playing live music.

The live music scene here on Cape runs deep in numbers. Being a vacation destination these musicians are out sometimes up to 5 nights a week. I am not asking you to feel bad for these people at all. They have chosen the rock and roll lifestyle to live. Just think if how bad it would suck if on a Tuesday night in the summer you got the dancing bug, or as most of us do the drinking bug, and you go out to your favorite watering hole and you are forced to sit there and listen to the poor bastard sitting next to you bitch about his/her problems. But thanks to our fellow local musicians, you can drown out the whining coming from the bar stool next to you and continue with your life.

So in summary of my little rant here, I am just asking you to give the artists I write about a chance and give them a listen. You never know when you could find some new music to boogie to. Remember to also get out and see and support live local music.

In addition anyone with a cool million or so in cold hard cash that wants to fund a Cape Cod Music Hall of Fame, you know how to get a hold of me. Help make this a reality.

Hey Hippies, Make Up Your Minds!

hippie
Except her, she can do whatever she wants.

CapeCodOnline.com – BREWSTER — It’s a question of seeing the forest through the trees for opponents of a solar energy project that would require clear-cutting sections of woodland off Commerce Park Road.

The area is already home to industrial activity, including a half-dozen businesses and an existing community solar project. But the backdrop for those businesses is an important ecological resource in the form of a 100-year-old pine-oak forest, according to two men fighting a 4.6-megawatt solar energy project planned for the area.

“Personally, it’s a mind-blowing idea, in 2014, that they would cut down a forest to put up a solar array,” said Paul Gasek, an Emmy Award-winning producer and a former senior science editor for The Discovery Channel who lives in town.

Gasek and Christopher Powicki, a vocal supporter of renewable energy who has nonetheless sparred with the cooperative over specific projects and policies, argue that the potential benefit from the solar project at Commerce Park wouldn’t outweigh the detriment of the nearly 29 acres of clear-cutting necessary.

Fucking Hippies. They want nothing more than to end our reliance on fossil fuels by using alternate sources of energy but when we want to build a solar array they whine about cutting down a few pine trees. Listen guys we aren’t talking about the rain forest here, these aren’t 1,000 year old Redwood trees. These are pine trees growing out of a big fucking sand bar. I’m pretty sure the world’s oxygen supply won’t be at risk if we chop down a few trees in Brewster.

Everybody on Cape Cod is an environmentalist these days and wants renewable energy right up until the point when they actually start building the facilities. Windmills cause vertigo and ruin water views! Solar panels take up space that could hold an organic garden! Nuclear plants can melt down killing tens of thousands of people and scorching the earth! Wah!

Make up your minds and either stop complaining about all these alternative energy projects or keep your mouth shut when my friends and I are re-enacting the Zoolander gas fight while we fill up our 8 mpg trucks.

P.S. Yes my name is Hippie, no it was not given to me because I smoke weed and hug trees all day, but that is a story for another time. Yes I do like the environment but I also dislike “environmentalists”. I know… I’m so mysterious.

Reader Photo Of The Day – Giant Snow Penis? Giant Snow Penis.

dick

These guys really love cock!

So this was apparently taken on something called Dynamite Day which is on January 5th. These guys start drinking at 7 a.m. and don’t stop until 2 a.m. I guess? Yeah, my friends and I have a name for that as well, we call it Saturdays. Bottom line though is if you send us a photo of an eight foot dick we are publishing it 12 times out of 10.

Next time could you at least pee “The Real Cape” into the snow or something, or even better you could invite us to Dynamite Day. I just can’t promise that we would stop drinking at 2 a.m. though, that seems a little early.
