    Last but surely not least is that the cops, EMT's and firefighters in this town to a man will and would always do their duty no matter what the kid said. If they wouldn't then they don't deserve to serve the public. That is not in accordance with their job or their duty. Much like when soldiers get upset with citizens denouncing war.   185. Police attract haters by merely doing their job, and sometimes by abusing their authority. I've seen some nasty behavior from cops here in Barnstable, and I look forward to their retirement. However I take no pleasure in hearing about the shooting of any person merely doing his/her job. This officer is widely reported to be a hard working family man. The horror for his family must be overwhelming, and they have my prayers and sympathies. I'm happy to hear he is recovering from his injury.   190. I believe in free speech and I may not be the biggest fan of the police, but he jumped online and spouted vile crap about a guy he doesn't know. An officer is shot, his friends and family are probably in shock and angry as hell, then some kid spouts stuff like that? Doesn't take a genius to see what will happen soon. Many have brought up freedom of speech, but if someone walked into a crowd and started saying racist or homophobic crap, do you think anyone would respect his freedom of speech?
