#CapeCod Tweet Of The Day – Traci Bingham From Baywatch

Why is Traci Bingham from Baywatch tweeting at The Lobster Trap with the #capecod hashtag? Does that lobster have an upside down trophy for a tail? Was she on Cape Cod? Why do Germans love David Hasselhoff so much? Did she save any people from drowning while she was here for old times sake? SO MANY QUESTIONS!

The answer to all of them is who gives a shit! Have you seen Traci Bingham lately? She followed up that tweet with THIS (Do not click that link if you do not like half naked women) so she can do whatever the hell she wants if it means more of that during my daily search of the #capecod hashtag.

UPDATE: Our readers are good! Turns out she was at The Lobster Trap…

Ticket Prices For This Robert DeNiro Award Ceremony In Provincetown Seem Reasonable

GYI0000545720.jpg

CapeCodOnline.com – The late, renowned artist Robert De Niro Sr., Academy Award-winning actor/arts philanthropist Robert De Niro Jr. and award-winning author Ann Patchett will be honored July 12 at the fifth annual Summer Awards Celebration for the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown.

De Niro Jr. and Patchett are scheduled to be on hand for the center benefit, which will be held 6:30 to 8 p.m. on the campus at 24 Pearl St. The event will include cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and the honoree awards presentation. A dinner buffet follows.

Tickets, which go on sale Wednesday, are $300, with $1,000 Patron tickets and $2,500 Benefactor tickets available. The patron and benefactor categories include additional tickets, commemorative gifts and admission July 11 to a private screening of HBO’s “Remembering the Artist Robert De Niro, Sr.” The Benefactor category also includes a private pre-event champagne reception with honorees in the Hudson D. Walker Gallery before the awards celebration as well as an Aug. 17 dinner at the waterfront home of event co-chair Daniel Mullin.

$300, $1,000, and $2,500 for tickets to look at some abstract expressionism and maybe catch a glimpse of a famous guy? That doesn’t seem pretentious at all. I’m pretty sure I’d rather just invite my nephew over to finger paint and then watch an edited version of Goodfellas on A&E.

Robert De Niro is cool and all but if I’m paying $2,500 to be at the same pre-event champagne reception as someone famous I expect them to at least give me a reach around. Then at least you always have the story about the time Robert De Niro jerked you off in P-Town.

As if the entire thing isn’t pretentious enough, that last sentence elevates it to new heights of douchedom. Does co-chair Daniel Mullin really need to let us know that his home is “waterfront”? Who does that? Imagine if someone invited you over their house and they said “you should come by my waterfront home”? You would want to kick them in the dick.

Epic asshattery all around on this one folks.

Crooked Coast Is Debuting Their New Video At The Cinema Pub With Live Show To Follow?

crookedcoast

I know, I know, this is insane. Crooked Coast debuting their new video in a movie theater tomorrow night? A gala red carpet event with paparazzi and The Real Cape team doing interviews and covering the madness? And wait Crooked Coast is going to perform live after the video? Oh and all this takes place at a movie theater that has beer? It all sounds like, like a… like a dream.

Well it isn’t a dream, this is very real and it is going to be more fun than humans should be allowed to have. The fun police are literally running for the hills so they don’t get hit by any of the shrapnel emanating from how much of a blast this is going to be.

It happens tomorrow night at 9 p.m. but get there early because I guarantee it’ll be at capacity well before then. Plus you’ll get to do some spins and answer a few questions on the red carpet beforehand.

Here is the official press release…

“This is too big for youtube.

Here at Crooked Coast, we always want to push it. Whether it’s bringing a passionate live performance to the stage or crafting a tight, versatile, heartfelt album in the studio. If you don’t run, you rust. Thank you for running with us thus far. Where are we headed now?

Music videos are something we all love. The same way you can bounce favorite songs around, you can also debate greatest music videos. Thriller and November Rain showed us music videos could be as memorable as a great song. They elevated the art form. Advances in technology have opened the floodgates. Artists with a camera and guerilla hustle can bring their vision to the world. There was never a better time for big ideas and small budgets.

Our friend Nicholas Santos is a fiercely talented young filmmaker. He is originally from Falmouth and now resides in NYC. We shot two previous videos with him, ‘Gone Without You’ and ‘Ritalin.’ We love the way he works. He is quiet and thoughtful but at the same time pushed us to try different things, taking our visions to new places.

When the time came to shoot a new music video to support our album Thanks for the Memories, we chose the song ‘Loose Tooth.’ The song is both happy and sad. The theme deals with death and the unknown after, the heartache of being human, the hints of things beyond our understanding and the joy of being with the people you love.

The shoot took place over two days last January. It was cold, raining, windy and a lot of fun. The first day was a sixteen-hour shoot and the second we shot for twelve. Crooked Coast gets damn near militant when it comes to shooting videos. We locked in like Voltron and got tons of amazing footage. Our friends and our ladies helped out acting in the video. We had connections with some caretakers that secured amazing (secret) locations.

The end result is stunning landscapes, torches, chases, animal costumes, fire, a synchronized dance routine and more. We are really proud of this production. Watching the footage we said, “This is too big for youtube, of course it will end up there eventually but the release deserves something more.”

Then it hit us; a bigger vision needs a bigger screen. We reached out to the Falmouth Cinema Pub and they agreed to host us.
Now we had the big vision and the big screen but we needed to make sure it was a big event. Reaching out to therealcape.com made sense. They are a local outfit that is working hard to be creative and buck the conception of what it means to be “Cape Cod.” We found kindred spirits in them and decided to partner up for the premier party.

Wednesday, May 28th we will unveil Loose Tooth. The Real Cape team will be shooting red carpet style interviews outside so make sure you look good. Then at 9 pm we will perform live, a first for the Cinema Pub. After the live performance we will premier the video. The event is all ages. There is a $5 cover charge.

You can watch the video on your phone later but the first time; go big.”

Cape Cod Gets $500,000 For Something Called “Telepsychiatry”

hologram

CapeCodOnline.com – The state attorney general has awarded the Cape’s largest mental health and substance abuse group $500,000 to provide “telepsychiatry” to patients in Barnstable County.

The two-year grant was awarded to Gosnold on Cape Cod, which provides mental health and substance abuse counseling at several offices from Provincetown to Falmouth.

The grant will provide equipment to allow Cape patients to visit Gosnold offices where they can then “meet” via teleconferencing equipment with Boston University psychiatrists, said Dr. Domenic Ciraulo, chairman of the Department of Psychiatry at the Boston University School of Medicine.

I could have saved everybody a whole ton of money if someone had talked to me about this first. For a mere $100,000 I would have gladly provided equipment that allows Cape patients to “meet” psychiatrists via teleconferencing.

In fact I’m feeling extra generous today so I’ll just let the folks at Gosnold in on a little secret that will save them approximately $499,601. Hey guys… go buy a fucking iPad. Apple invented “telepsychiatry” years ago, it’s called Face Time.

Dude Drives Truck Off Chappy Ferry Ramp Into Edgartown Harbor

truckedgartownharbor

MVTimes.com – Edgartown Police said Benjamin Knight, 35, circled the Chappaquiddick ferry parking lot twice before he intentionally drove his white Toyota Tacoma pickup truck off the Chappy ferry ramp and into Edgartown harbor just before noon, Monday.

The swift current swept the truck into the channel and deeper water as Mr. Knight crawled out the window. Luckily, assistant Edgartown harbormaster Mike Hathaway just happened to be nearby in a patrol boat. Mr. Hathaway plucked Mr. Knight from the water and managed to secure a line to the truck and pull it out of the channel to the Chappy shoreline where it was later winched to dry land.

Mr. Knight was transported to the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital for mental and medical evaluation. He was not injured but was committed for mental evaluation, police said.

The Chappy ferry was not in the slip at the time of the accident. The truck barreled through a safety chain and a wooden lift gate that prevents entrance to the slip until the ferry operator signals vehicles forward.

Mr. Knight told officers that the gas pedal had become stuck and he could not stop his truck, according to a police press release.

“Investigation revealed that there had been no mechanical issue with the Toyota Tacoma pickup truck and it was a standard transmission,” police said. “Video footage showed that Knight had circled the ferry parking lot twice just prior to running off the ramp. Officers concluded that this was an intentional act.”

Ah the old ‘gas pedal was stuck in a truck with a manual clutch’ excuse after driving off the Chappy Ferry ramp into Edgartown Harbor. A story as old as time itself. Given that you could just hit the clutch and then the brake to stop the truck in that situation, I personally would have gone with sunstroke causing me to hallucinate and think the ferry was there, but that’s just me. You know six to one, half dozen to another.
