There have been a ton of ups and downs, but anything can happen in single elimination bracket style tournaments. They don’t call it Madness because of its predictability.

In the Final Four the Fox Hole handily defeated the #1 seeded Hyannis Quarterdeck in what was a surprise to many. Grumpy’s and The 19th Hole had a hard fought back and forth battle. Neither one left anything on the field and both should hold their head high. In the end Grumpy’s prevailed and made the final game.

So without further ado, we give you the Cape Cod Dive Bar Tournament Finals, vote and share away!

Outback Steakhouse In Hyannis Closes It’s Doors – Don’t Jersey The Cape

CapeCodToday.com – If you are a frequent visitor to the Route 132 corridor in Hyannis, you probably already know the Outback Restaurant in Festival Plaza is closed. The sign is down and the windows are shuttered. Not a g’day if you are in the mood for a Bloomin’ Onion®.

It is hard to pinpoint the exact day the location closed without confirmation, but it has been a good few weeks at least. A server at a close-by Hyannis restaurant said the scuttlebutt is that the Outback staff was brought in one day and unceremoniously given the boot. It is unclear if any of the staff were offered positions at other Outback locations.

Good riddance. I’ve never understood why places like this survive for a minute on Cape Cod. It’s not like we have a shortage of great locally owned places to get steak around here. I understand that the chain restaurants are cheap, but not all locally owned restaurants are expensive. For instance, why would anyone go to 99 when we have places like Bobby Byrne’s, or J.R. Brody’s, or any of the hundreds of other local establishments whose owners live and pay taxes in our community? There are many that are reasonably priced, so cheap can’t be the only factor.

Look, I get that these places employ local people, this is nothing against the staff of The Outback or the 99 or any other chain. They are local hard working people that would find a job at a local restaurant if chains didn’t exist. This is about keeping your money local on a grander scheme, but it is mostly just about food quality.

If you go to one of those local restaurants I listed you will get higher quality, tastier, healthier food while supporting local business. It seems like a no brainer. Who wants to go to a cookie cutter place that could just as easily be in New Jersey as it is on Cape Cod just to get steak tips that look like marbles on an upside down frisbee? It just makes no sense to me.

Eat local, eat well, and don’t Jersey The Cape!

P.S. 99 does have gigantic beers, so they do have that going for them.

The Trifecta! – Pocasset Man Accused of Beating Man With Weatherstripping Who Tried To Sell Him A Dog

pocasset mobile

CapeCodOnline.com – A 57-year-old Pocasset man is accused of swinging a piece of weatherstripping at a man who tried to sell him a dog, court records show.

Richard F. Damon, of 7 Third St., pleaded not guilty in Falmouth District Court on Tuesday to charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery. He was released on $250 cash bail and ordered to stay from the man. A pretrial hearing is scheduled for June 11.

At 5:34 p.m. Monday, Bourne police responded to the Pocasset Mobil Home Park, where the man told them he was punched in the head by Damon, records show.

Moments later, Damon allegedly retrieved a piece of wooden weatherstripping that a witness said resembled a baseball bat and swung it at the man, striking his forearm and bicep, records show.

The man left a dog and its pedigree papers with Damon in an attempt to sell the dog to him Friday, records say. Damon returned the dog but not the papers, setting off the dispute, records say.

BOOM! I told you they always come in threes. The Cape Cod gods are fickle gods but they always send the crazies to us as a triple treat.

Listen, if you leave a dog and its pedigree papers with a guy in the Pocassett Mobile Home Park then all bets are off. You should consider yourself lucky he gave you back the dog, you don’t bitch about the papers. That’ll get you weatherstripped right across the arm sure as rain in April.

P.S. What kind of weatherstripping is made of wood and resembles a baseball bat? I think this guy might be so stupid that he got a Louisville Slugger confused with weatherstripping. I LOVE LAMP!

And We Thought Cape Cod Craigslist Ads Were Awesome? – New Bedford Wins

craigs

Craiglist – trade watch for a pack of smokes (new bedford )

I have one casio watch that is in very good condition that i want to trade for a pack of anything mentol 100s

Not Cape Cod but too good not to post. A digital Casio watch for a pack of Menthol 100’s? You couldn’t make this shit up if you tried.

I have been going back and forth on this in my head for days now and I can’t for the life of me figure out who wins and who loses in this trade. The only conclusion I can come to is that it’s a perfectly even barter. Everybody wins!

Do you New Bedford, Do you.

P.S. This is a tip for guys. Get yourself some Tea Tree shampoo and wash your balls with it. Feels like your nuts are smoking a Newport. Just absolutely wonderful. It’s like you are washing your junk in a peppermint pattie commercial. You can thank me later.

Man Convicted Of Driving Minivan On Crack, In Hyannis

astrovan

CapeCodOnline.com – A Quincy man was found guilty Tuesday in Barnstable District Court of smoking crack while driving a minivan with stolen plates last summer on Route 6.

At around 1 a.m. June 5, police tried to pull over David Kimball, 33, on Route 6 westbound after a search revealed the plates on his Dodge Caravan were stolen, according to a police report. Kimball sped up, only stopping when the minivan drove over tire-deflation devices set up by police, according to the report. Kimball then fled the car and ran behind a house at 1067 Sandwich Road, where he was arrested.

Kimball told police he fled because he had a revoked license and because he was smoking crack when officers began to follow him. Kimball had purchased a $40 bag of crack in Hyannis before the police chase, according to the report.

When it rains it pours! I was just thinking that we haven’t had much action in the Cape Criminal department lately and we wake up to a couple of gems this morning. They come in threes so I fully expect another sometime today. For now let’s get to Cracky McGee.

This story is such a cliche it hurts. If you are driving down rte. 6 in Hyannis smoking crack, there is a 100% chance that you are in a minivan right? And if so, there is a 200% chance the minivan has stolen plates on it. Even the $40 bag of crack is a cliche. It’s ALWAYS a $4o bag of crack. You never read about the guy running from the cops after a minivan chase that gets caught with a $180 bag of crack. Nope, it’s $40 every. single. time.

I think David Kimball’s biggest crime here is his predictability. Smoking a $40 bag of crack in Hyannis, on rte. 6, in a minivan, with stolen plates, and then running from police? So 5 years ago.

Boooorrrriiiinngggg!

Let’s see you smoke a $180 bag of crack, in Chatham, on rte. 28, in a late model sedan, that is registered and inspected, and then deal with the police in a level headed fashion. THEN we’ll have something to talk about.
