Insane Tony’s Local Music Lunch Hour – Jimmy D

In my book if you can go by one letter for your last name you are doing something right. This is what Jim Decatur, known to fans as Jimmy D, can do because he’s been doing live music right for a long time.

He has played almost everywhere a musician here on the Cape can play from bars to private parties to his most recent gig at the PAL building for Homeless for the Holidays with the Falmouth Fire Dept. He has also played the main stage at the Naukabout music festival.

Jimmy D will get ya head bobbin with his wide arrange of songs from a healthy dose of originals with a few covers thrown in the mix. Seems that everywhere I look I see Jimmy D playing somewhere new or an old favorite spot. This homegrown talent from Bourne also is not afraid of traveling over those structures connecting us to the main land.

On December 27th he is taking such an excersion to play at The Toad in Cambridge with Dan Byrnes. So all of our readers out there in the Beantown area go out and support these two guitar bandits. The next night he’s back  to the mother land at The Trowbridge Tavern. Then on New Years Day keep the party rollin’ at The Beach House when he rocks the shit out of that place to celebrate another  year of greatness here on the Cape.

Can’t catch any of those shows? Keep your eyes peeled for shows coming up at The Bog restaurant in Bourne and make sure you go out and see the man that has rocked  live music so hard for so many years that he doesn’t need a last name and see Jimmy D.

Insane Tony’s Local Music Lunch Hour – Daniel Byrnes

If there’s been one constant musician in my live music experience here on The Cape Daniel Byrnes would be it. A Thursday ritual for many here on the peninsula has been cutting a rug to Dan ripping the air apart with his guitar, whether it be at Grumpys in the early 2000’s with Contraband or recently with The Daniel Byrnes Band at the B.B.C in Falmouth.

DBB has had a thursday night residency at the BBC for the last 5 1/2 years. Most bands that have a residency at a bar or club dont last more than a year. So 5 1/2 years is a true test of time to Dan and his fans. This is musical relationship is coming to an end this month. DBB’s last show at the BBC will be on December 26th.

Dan has toured up and down the east coast, and played numerous shows in Boston. When you see DBB live you will get a taste of blues, folk and even some smooth r&b. His latest album is titled “Triple” and its songs have a certain strength and depth that is not seen too often. Dan puts everything he hasinto every song, and you can feel and see that when you catch him live.

Be sure to get out on one of these thirsty Thursdays and see The Daniel Byrnes Band at the BBC, or one of his many other live shows in this beloved area. A good chance will be when DBB tears the roof off of The Beach House on December 14th.

Keep up with Dan on his Facebook page or his website.

If you want more of BuLife (and you certainly should) you can find them on Tumblr,  FacebookYouTube,  Twitter, or  SoundCloud

Today we take that long trip down Rt.6 to the tip. There’s something going on down there in Provincetown that the rest of The Cape needs to know about. The BuLife (Beau-life) is getting shit done out there. BuLife is a collection of artists that grew up together in P-town who have developed a strong knowledge and love for hip-hop, but also have a different perspective about it. They are very proud of being from Cape Cod and everything that comes with being year round residents, and they want to paint an honest picture of their lives to the world through hip-hop, film, photography, and fashion.

The guys have released 3 mix tapes this year and perform tirelessly everywhere from The Underground Bar in P-town to Brooklyn . The BuLifes next show is December 27th at The Underground Bar. Be sure to take some time and check out the videois and music they have produced. These guys work hard on there craft so show them some love and support The BuLife.

“People who have never fallen or stumbled; their virtue is lifeless. Life hasn’t revealed it’s beauty to them. I can honestly look back and realize that everything happened for a reason. Everything that fell apart has fallen back into place beautifully and magically. The Fallen”
